During the Eastern and Southern Africa Anti-Money Laundering Group (ESAAMLG) meetings held in Kigali from 31 August to 5 September 2026, Ms. GASHUMBA Jeanne Pauline, the Director General of Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) of Rwanda, signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with her counterparts, Mr. Samuel Were Wandera, the Executive Director of the Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA) of Uganda, and Hon. Bona Gong Ngeny, the Commissioner of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of South Sudan.

Both MoUs aim at fostering enhanced cooperation and information exchange for financial intelligence purposes, with a focus on combating money laundering, terrorism financing, the proliferation financing of weapons of mass destruction and related crimes .
